Available Dispensary Licenses in Illinois?

0

Answer

Currently there are no additional dispensary licenses available.

As of this posting, Illinois has 80 active dispensaries.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation issued 75 more dispensary licenses based on applications received in January 2020. Due to ongoing litigation the state then issued 110 additional dispensary licenses via lottery. As of April 2022 the litigation was stillongoing and none of the 185 licenses had been activated.

Why this is important

It's important to know if there is a limit on the number of dispensaries in any state you desire to obtain a dispensary.  In Illinois there is a limit and the limit has already been met. You may have to wait until there is a change to that limit or can consider establishing a dispensary in a different state or partner as an owner in an existing dispensary license.

Knowing the number of cannabis business licenses in Illinois is also important because that information is helpful in understanding the level of competition in the state which will affect your financial plan and marketing strategy.
